Lignum Vitae Scales LVS101 - 6 x 1.95 x .37”
Lignum Vitae Scales LVS101 - 6 x 1.95 x .37”
Lignum Vitae - translated from Latin means "wood of life“.
Professionally seasoned for many months to ensure absolute stability, these scales deliver an exceptional, luxury heavy heft in the hand that sets elite custom blades apart.
Celebrated as one of the hardest and densest timbers on Earth—so dense that it sinks immediately in water. Infused with natural guaiac resin, the wood possesses a unique, self-lubricating quality that buffs to a natural, waxy sheen under fine-grit sanding.
Lignum Vitae was a staple of maritime and industrial engineering. It was famously used for heavy-duty applications such as submarine propeller shaft bearings (including the USS Nautilus), marine pulleys, bowling balls, and woodcarving mallets.
